the Fab Lab erfindergarden is like a football club for technology enthusiasts. Instead of showing how to shoot a ball into the goal, we show how to make and repair almost everything yourself.
Our mission is to accompany children and adolescents between the ages of 11 and 18 in the long term and to support them with materials, machines and mentoring and to build them up as independent inventors.
Our football games are Maker Faires, Trade Shows and Youtube Videos.
No frontal teaching: In erfindergarden you learn like in kindergarden, playful by trial and imitation and projects of interest to one.
No pressure: Everyone can learn as fast as they want
More than a Cookie Cutter 3D Printing: We not only use technology because it’s trendy, but we really want to make something useful.
Not DIY: But Do-it-together: We build a strong community and help each other so we can create projects that you can not handle alone at home
We are not just a Fab Lab: there are over 1000 of us around the world. As Fab Academy Node, we interact with Makers from 80 Fab Labs every week
No lay people or media educators who have quickly read through a Calliope book: We make and program every day ourselves and continue to train ourselves.
Not just nerds: everyone is welcome. No question is too stupid. Do not be afraid of the technique.
As few learning kits as possible: But we buy individual parts and raw materials and make almost everything ourselves with our machines.
Not users: but self-makers. We do not want to be dependent on experts. We want to look behind the scenes and really understand technology.
Not because we have to tinker: but because we can.
Not only children: but we look forward to every visit and especially want to help the neighborhood. Every 3rd Saturday is open lab in erfindergarden.
